Fight 153 – Phetdawan Sit. Yopayak Lampang
June 27, 2016 – Chiang Mai Boxing Stadium “the Roadhouse” – full fight video
I saw Pi Daeng at Lanna the morning before this fight and he said he’d never seen this opponent before. When we were actually at the venue, he’d taken a lap through the stadium and come back to where I was having my oil massage (I’m always the first fight, so there’s this weird rush-and-then-wait thing) and laughed while shaking his head, “she very tall,” he said.
No shit. When I got in the ring she was enormous. Like, 52-53 kg maybe, which is a little big for my range of opponents, and so tall and long. I’d had one day off between my last fight and this one, but I’d been really happy with my performance in that last fight and was still rolling off of that high. Plus, the announcer over the microphone let everyone know that I’ve never lost at this stadium (huh, I hadn’t realized that, but yeah) and so I just went to work. She was a good fighter, skilled and slick, Southpaw so I attacked her long-ass legs to cut off her movements. Those leg kicks built up quick and she started kind of buckling from them. So I hit them again, feeling all jai dam (“black hearted”) and catching her as she bent down and then just trying to get my knees up to her body. The knees that connected straight took a lot out of her and I knew I could finish her. It wasn’t until watching the fight afterward that I really, really saw how tall and big she was in comparison to me. Must be because I think I’m bigger.
