How to Knee a Bag – Muay Thai Bag Instruction from Sakmongkol – WKO Pattaya
I’ve been in Pattaya getting instruction from Sakmongkol and one of the first things he did (day 2) was show me how he wants me to knee a bag. He was watching me do the basic 200 “chicken wing” knees on the bag that I do after a run and also end a session with usually – the kind of knees that you see in pretty much every Muay Thai gym in Thailand – but he wanted something more. Everything for Sakmongkol is in fight context, in mimic or preparation for fight situations. I really like that about him. He’s still in it, so to speak.
This is part of a near-daily Muay Thai series Training with Sakmongkol wherein I describe my training experiences with him at WKO Pattaya. For those interested I recount my decision to temporarily leave my training in Chiang Mai to take the opportunity to learn from one of the best Thai fighters of his generation and a uniquely gifted teacher in my post: In Search of Sakmongkol. In these posts I try to include as much extensive video as possible so that others can see in detail how and what he is teaching me.
